Description

This position will be responsible for providing the Coordinating Center of China Tuberculosis Clinical Trial Consortium (CTCTC) needed technical and management support on its capacity strengthening effort involving nineteen member sites across China,  focused on tuberculosis laboratories.   The role mainly includes conducting in-depth assessments and day-to-day communication with member laboratories, planning and providing needed training, and supporting participating laboratories for trials of CTCTC.  S/he will coordinate and facilitate the clinical laboratory quality improvement programs including preparing laboratories for establishing needed EQA programs.  This role is also expected to strengthen the contribution of international expertise in CTCTC laboratory building, by facilitating site visits, technical discussions, relevant training and solving issues identified.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • Collecting, compiling, distributing and publishing CTCTC laboratory technical documents including laboratory SOPs, work instructions, and manuals.
  • In close collaboration with the National Reference Laboratory located in Beijing Chest Hospital, initiate and establish needed EQA programs for CTCTC sites to meet the requirement of international standard trials.
  • Serving as a liaison between CTCTC Coordinating Center and laboratories of member sites to establish a good collaborating relationship.
  • Facilitate the involvement of international laboratory consultants in capacity building of CTCTC laboratories, including following up issues raised during training visits.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives upon request to build laboratory capacity and quality concerning ISO 15189 and GCLP standards and requirements.
  • Preparation of training materials and deliver training to research programs, laboratory staff, and external agencies.
  • Provide technical assistance to CTCTC laboratories and others as needed for their trials and related projects such as RePORT International.
  • Supporting the development of the network strategical plan, and provide needed management and technical support to CTCTC Coordinating Center that is not limited to the laboratory capacity building.

Qualifications

 

  • Proven capability and direct experience in TB laboratory functions and services with minimum five years related work experience in laboratory quality assurance, quality control, auditing and training in a national or provincial TB laboratory.
  • Master degree in biological or laboratory sciences with a clinical or diagnostic discipline or specialty.
  • Resourceful and creative thinker with the ability to develop simple and efficient solutions and recommendations.
  • Solid knowledge of quality assurance including pertinent national and international regulations and guidance.
  • Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communication, decision-making and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Experience for diagnosis of other infectious diseases preferred.
  • Bilingual Chinese/English preferred.
