FHI 360's Civil Society and Peacebuilding Department (CSPB) supports citizens to mobilize effectively to influence policy, improve lives, and build peace. CSPB works with civil society to increase its credibility, visibility and effectiveness by building its capacity to:

  • Engage with local government to increase its responsiveness to citizen needs;
  • Solve community problems, engage youth in civic affairs, and provide needed services to citizens;
  • Advocate for social justice, democratic reforms, human rights, and effective policies;
  • Leverage and/or produce media content, such as for online, radio, and television, to promote social dialogue and tolerance; and
  • Promote peaceful solutions to conflict and support peace negotiations.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

CSPB seeks at least one Program Officer I with two to five years of professional experience, preferably in international development or with non-profits to perform the following functions to support and backstop current projects as well as new business development. French language proficiency is preferred.

  • Provide administrative, operational and technical support to program management and project teams, including: troubleshooting, update work plans, coordinate travel arrangements, draft and distribute meeting agenda, take notes for accurate records and follow-up, review and translate reports/project materials, contribute to work plans for assigned program portfolio; and monitor program activities;
  • Support Department operations and initiatives such as procurement, logistics, draft communications materials, research and compile information, and other tasks;
  • Help track performance against project timelines, budget, objectives, and deliverables;
  • Serve as the liaison for internal units, such as finance, contracts, accounts payable, etc.;
  • Facilitate communications with donor and project teams by updating project websites, shared files with USAID, and internal Sharepoint sites;
  • Support the project teams to design, implement, and coordinate specific program activities; may conduct some desk research to achieve program goals; and
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in international affairs or international development, political science, peacebuilding, anthropology, or other field related to international/ human development. Master's degree preferred;
  • Must have 2-5 years of technical and/or practical experience supporting development projects in peacebuilding, civil society, conflict mitigation, or similar field;
  • Proficiency in French is preferred;
  • Strong writing skills required; must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. A writing sample is required;
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization preferred;
  • Experience with international programs preferred;
  • Familiarity with US Government rules and regulations is highly desirable;
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff;
  • Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous processes, set realistic priorities, and develop/adhere to plans for successful implementation of activities; and
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
